Distretto Aerospaziale Lombardo: an integrated supply chain Ms. Claudia Mona, Marketing & Internationalisation, Distretto Aerospaziale Lombardo The Distretto Aerospaziale Lombardo (Lombardy Aerospace Cluster) was established in February 2009 around the major aerospace companies and the Industrial Union of the Province of Varese as a natural evolution of a long established industry in the Region that dates back to the beginning of modern flight. Very soon the Cluster has grown to some 75 members out of the around 200 companies working at different levels of the aerospace supply chain and able to generate a 4 billion Euros turnover that make about 38% of the Italian export of the sector. The Distretto Aerospaziale Lombardo can count on the presence of major players like AgustaWestland, Alenia Aermacchi, Selex Galileo and CGS, as well as a consistent number of OEM companies in various technological fields and a vast network of SMEs that offer special products, services and subcontracting.
