Bloedel Reserve
The Bloedel Reserve is approximately 150 acres on Bainbridge Island Washington. About 84 acres are second growth forest. The remaining 66 acres are altered landscapes, including various gardens, ponds and meadows. This formal, European style landscape is characterized by man-made lakes, swans, weeping willow, English elms and a parrot tree, with a magnificent empress tree flanking the main facade of the house. Great blue herons and kingfishers regularly feed on the trout placed in the pond for that purpose.
Trees of about three hundred kinds grow at the Reserve. The Reserve’s 150 acres are a unique blend of natural woodlands and beautifully landscaped gardens, including a Japanese Garden, a Moss Garden, a Reflection Pool and the Bloedels’ former estate home.
