The Moinhos (windmills) were constructed in the mid-18th century for the Irish Dominican nuns of the Good Success Convent. Approximately 100 mills were erected to grind flour that was used to supply many of the bakeries in Lisbon. Today the Moinhos de Santana is a great place rest, relax and experience great views of the River Tejo and the Atlantic. The Moinhos are located on Rua Tristao Vaz in the Restelo district.
