Black Sun, a sculpture and PhotoOp
PhotoOp,SAM
Black Sun is a 1969 sculpture by Isamu Noguchi located in Volunteer Park.
The statue is situated on the eastern edge of the park's man-made reservoir, across from the Seattle Asian Art Museum. The view east from the sculpture features the Space Needle, Olympic Mountains, and Elliott Bay.
This striking granite piece offers a very inviting PhotoOp during the day as well as at sunset. Many people like to shoot the Space Needle through the “donut hole” of the Black Sun.
The Seattle music group, Soundgarden, had a hit song title “Black Hole Sun” named after this “Black Sun” Sculpture.
