Fish Ladder at Ballard Locks
Go eyeball to eyeball with the migrating salmon as you visit the 21 step fish ladder. The water ladder was built to allow salmon to pass between fresh and salt water and to navigate around locks. Glass panels below the water line make it possible to watch the fish as they swim through the ladder.
The fish ladder is on the south side of the locks and grounds.
Hours: 7 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
The visitor center is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. May 1 through Sept. 30 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 1 through April 30.
From March 1 to Nov. 30, it offers free guided tours.

This fish ladder is "unique" with its location where salt and fresh water meet. Although the viewing area is open year-round, the "peak" viewing time is June through September.
