"Morning Chores" Bronze statue honoring Pioneer Children of Sunn
Installed in 2007, this life-sized bronze statue, "Morning Chores" is located near Fifth Street and Edison Avenue commemorating the contributions by pioneer children. This near life-sized statue depicts a pioneer girl milking a cow. And the statue is unique in that it employs permanent coloring technique in the bronze including colors such as blue in the young dairy girl's outfit and a two-toned cow.
The dairy statue, created by Sunnyside native Desiree Dawn, employed a permanent coloring technique through a process in which different types of acid are applied to ensure the tones remain permanently.
