A Walking Tour of Downtown Kirkland by Aaron
Lake Washington, Kirkland,art
Lake Washington is the largest body of fresh water bordering the east limits of the city of Seattle. Two floating bridges carry the traffic from Seattle to the cities and communities located east of Lake Washington. Before these floating bridges, most people were carried across the lake by ferry boat. One of the few remaining waterfront communities from these old water traffic days is the city of Kirkland. Today’s Kirkland is a waterfront community on the shores of Lake Washington offering a charming, pedestrian-friendly downtown that beckons you to explore. The downtown of Kirkland has several decades of acquiring public art that is installed throughout the waterside community. Viewing these art pieces is a good attraction for a delightful one hour walking tour that explores 15 blocks on level or slight grades. The starting point for this tour is the Kirkland Library’s free parking lot at 308 Kirkland Way. The tour passes many restaurants and coffee shops as well as a waterfront park with benches and lawn
