Fish ladder is open 7 a.m. - 8:45 p.m.
You are most likely to see Salmon climbing the ladders from late Spring through early Fall.
Formally known as the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and constructed and run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the locks act as water elevators between the Puget Sound (sea level) and the 20’ higher fresh water levels of Lake Washington. It’s a miniature Panama Canal in the middle of the city.
The locks also features botanical gardens that make for nice picnic spots.
