One of the popular destinations in Tacoma is found on the 5 Mile Drive in Point Defiance Park. A nice walking beach on the Puget Sound, Owen Beach serves up views of Vashon Island, a walk or swim in the Puget Sound, driftwood to explore, opportunity to relax on the beach or enjoy the paved path that goes along the beach area; there is no shortage of free things to do at the beach. There is free parking, plenty of picnic areas, and the smell of salt water in the air.
Typically a good day will also offer the adventurous a Kayak rental area for those wanting to explore from the water.
