The Mammoth site is also the home of The Mid-Columbia Basin Old Natural Education Sciences (MCBONES) Research Center
The MCBONES Dig House and Coyote Canyon Mammoth Site are generally open the second and third weekends of each Month from March Through October, depending on weather and other commitments.
Coyote Canyon is site of a mammoth skeleton is that is being dug up just south of Kennewick. The mammoth lived 17,450 years ago. The age of the mammoth skeleton was determined through radiocarbon dating and is believed to be accurate to plus or minus 25 years
The public is welcome to visit at no charge. However, donations are encouraged.
