The Fort Vancouver Mobile app module "Kanaka" received the 2013 John Wesley Powell Prize for outstanding achievement in historical displays, a national award from the Society for History in the Federal Government. Brett Oppegaard, the National Park Service's 2012 volunteer of the year and Greg Shine, historian and chief ranger at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, received the John Wesley Powell Prize for historical displays on behalf of the team that worked on the "Kanaka Village" project Go to your App store and search for “Fort Vancouver” and download the app. Your GPS location will guide you through this historic site and tell the story of the people who made up the history of the Fort Vancouver area.
