A popular park for families is Battle Point Park. It welcomes kids of all ages. Its expansive 90 acres offers literally miles of paved paths, a couple of ponds, a large kid’s playground, athletic fields and sports courts as well as an equestrian area and a community garden with 28 individual garden plots.
Located about five and a half miles northwest of Winslow, on the western edge of the island not far from Manzanita Bay, Battle Point Park is named for a 19th century battle between native tribes.
When you arrive at the park, you’ll find two entrances. Either entrance has large parking areas with easy access to the trails. The main, and East entrance on Arrow Point Drive NE is closest to the kid’s play areas. The playground offers a delightful grouping of play structures that include a large sandbox, activity installations like swings and a wooden lighthouse.
