Wagon Train Metal Sculpture -- Heavy Metal Tour
Ritzville, art, metal, sculpture,sponsor
Among the artistic and traditional aspects of Ritzville are the 12 life-size metal sculptures that are located throughout the city. The sculptures are intended to have historical connection to the city, its forefathers and the agricultural industry that surrounds the city. The project was launched in 2007 by the Ritzville Downtown Development Association in partnership with the City of Ritzville to commission one new metal sculpture each year.
Ritzville’s Heavy Metal Tour features a covered wagon, which commemorates the 17 Volga German families who came to Ritzville in 1883 and is a scaled replica of a wagon train; a cowboy, pioneer woman, horse, photographer, prominent individuals and even an automobile.
